Popular Location Since the 1800s

This recreational area has been drawing visitors since the 1800s. Railroads would bring loads of vacationers to the large resort hotels on the shores of Clear Lake.

The calm waters of Round Lake are ideal for leisurely boating, fishing, or swimming. An opening on the southern end of the lake gives you access to the 800 acres of Clear Lake.

Clear Lake is an exciting location that hosts activities like pontooning, speed boating, water skiing, tubing, jet skiing, and sailing. People also have a grand time swimming off the docks or at one of the lake’s sandy beaches.

Both lakes hold a healthy population of largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill, walleye, rainbow trout, and catfish.

Local Attractions and Some in South Bend

Wild Winds Buffalo Preserve is a unique attraction just minutes away. The preserve features 400 acres of land roamed by herds of over 250 bison. People of all ages enjoy the park tour.

Pokagon State Park is just a few miles west, offering a campground, amphitheater, nature center, and restaurant. It is a year-round attraction for boating, fishing, and swimming in the summer and cross-country skiing, sledding, and ice fishing in the winter.

Potawatomi Zoo, 4 Winds Casino, River Lights Plaza, or The Oliver Mansion are fun attractions in South Bend. The city’s top-rated restaurants include LaSalle Grill, J.W. Chen’s, Cafe Navarre, and Tippecanoe Place Restaurant.
